Welcome to Solberg Farm
We are located in the rolling terrain of the Georgia Piedmont, and share our farm name, Solberg, with the farm of our ancestors in Norway.
We strive to produce quality Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats for homestead milkers, show animals, and companions. Our breeding goals are correct conformation and exceptional milk production. We are pleased with the progress our herd is making toward these goals. We entered the dairy goat world because our daughter wanted to show goats, and we wanted a miniature milker for the homestead. The Nigerian Dwarf breed fills these needs perfectly for us. The high butterfat and protein content in the milk yields wonderful cheese, and we enjoy the sweet, creamy milk. We "dam-rear" for the benefit of the kids, but we handle the kids at birth and daily thereafter to ensure that they are imprinted on their humans and a pleasure to work with.
The past few years have been spent beginning to show, building facilities, building our herd, making cheese and other wonderful goat milk products, and meeting other goat lovers. We are deeply indebted to the many friends we have made in the goat world, and look forward to meeting more in the coming seasons.
As our website develops, we hope you will visit us often to see new and better pictures posted as they become available. We are admittedly poor photographers, so the best way to see our goats is to come visit us in person!
Thank you to all of you who purchased our kids and adults in 2014. We will once again have kids arriving starting the first of March 2015. As with last year, we have to carefully control our numbers, so if we become hopelessly attached to a new kid, chances are we will need to part with an adult doe to avoid overcrowding of our facilities. Brief pedigree information is given in the Bucks, Senior Does, and Junior Does sections.
Our entire herd tested negative for CAE and Johne's in September 2014 by University of Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
